Our Founders

Westside has been part of the health community since 1986. Maria Zerjav and Maureen Ashe have been owner operators since 1998. Maureen and Maria graduated from Dalhousie University in the same class with a bachelor degree in physiotherapy.

Maria ZerjavMaria Zerjav

Maria has been a physiotherapist since 1987. Clinically, she has a special interest in the treatment of patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMJ disorders) and neck and back problems. Maria has presented lectures on treating jaw problems to the University of British Columbia physiotherapy students, as well as to practicing physiotherapists, dental hygienists and dentists. Maria gained much of her clinic management experience from owning another physiotherapy clinic in Burnaby since 1994. She has been active with the Physiotherapy Association of British Columbia (PABC) and has worked as a link between ICBC and PABC.


Maureen Ashe

Maureen has worked predominantly in rehabilitation and the treatment of hand injuries. She became a certified hand therapist in 1999 and completed her PhD in 2005. Maureen has been very involved in the physiotherapy association at a provinicial and national level.
